There's no place like home for the Lower Brule Sioux, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 73-61 victory over Cheyenne-Eagle Butte on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lower Brule was led to victory by Lane Gray and Quentin McBride Jr. Gray scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while McBride Jr scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that McBride Jr pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Robert Staples, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Lower Brule's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.6 points per game. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Lower Brule will face off against Lac qui Parle Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lac qui Parle Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, they will be playing at home against Todd County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Todd County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
