Western Wayne extended their losing streak  to three  on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They lost  11-0 to the Holy Cross Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  9-1  back in April.
As for Holy Cross, the  victory was  the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1. Considering they have won 14 matches by more than five  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
For Holy Cross' part,  AVA SCHMIDT made a splash no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. SCHMIDT has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  earning one  RBI, one  run,  and two  stolen bases. Those  two  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  MIA GALELLA was  incredible,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  home run, three  runs,  and three  RBI.  CLAIRE HELRING was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Western Wayne will  face off against  rival Honesdale  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Meanwhile, Holy Cross is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Mid Valley  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Crusaders 1.4, the Spartans 0.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
