Softball Recap: Downsville Has No Trouble Against Union Parish

While Downsville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Union Parish. The Demons blew past the Farmers 16-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Abbie Barkley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Barkley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Izi Hicks was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Chelsea Walsworth was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Downsville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14 runs. As for Union Parish, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Downsville will square off against West Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Union Parish, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dodson at 5:30 p.m.
