Basketball Game Preview: Gilbert Christian Knights vs. Benjamin Franklin Chargers

Gilbert Christian has gone 8-2 against Benjamin Franklin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Gilbert Christian Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Benjamin Franklin Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Benjamin Franklin took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Gilbert Christian, who comes in off a win.

Gilbert Christian saw some tournament action back in December of 2024. They came out on top against Walden Grove by a score of 47-34. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Gilbert Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaila Aston out in front who went 9 for 18 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Aston a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Hansen, who posted five points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-41 heartbreaker at the hands of ALA - Gilbert North.

Loss or not, Benjamin Franklin got some senior leadership from Madelyn Falls and Jacey Blair. Falls had 14 points, while Blair posted 16 points.

Gilbert Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.6 points per game. As for Benjamin Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Gilbert Christian lost to Benjamin Franklin at home by a decisive 54-37 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Gilbert Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
