LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — What was supposed to be a battle between two of south Florida's most notable programs turned into a one-way showcase, as
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) blasted
Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes) 52-13 on Thursday night. It was the third-most points ever allowed by the Cobras in school history.

Fresh off a 31-3 win over Skyline (Dallas) in Texas in Week 1, the Raiders, ranked No. 22 in the Max Preps Xcellent 25 presented by the Army National Guard, came home with a little extra swagger and it showed against the Cobras. Senior quarterback
Jacob Rudock helped St. Thomas take a 14-0 lead over the Cobras in the first quarter after connecting with receiver
Rashad Greene for a 15-yard score. Junior running back
Dami Ayoola helped the Raiders extend their lead on a two-yard run.
Ayoola finished with four carries for 15 yards, while catching three passes for 84 yards and another score. Rudock, an Iowa verbal commit, completed 9 of 16 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns.
Greene, a Florida State verbal commit, hauled in an amazing 64-yard pass from Rudock for his second touchdown of the night, helping the Raiders take a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter. A 54-yard interception return by highly touted safety
Marcus Roberson extended the margin to 28-0. Roberson helped the Raider defense force six turnovers in the game
On their ensuing possession, the Cobras (2-1) were able to get on the board after quarterback
Dane James connected with senior receiver
Jesse York for a 48-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 28-7. Unfazed by York's heroics the Raiders immediately answered the score, as senior receiver
Phillip Dorsett, a University of Miami verbal commit, returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for the score.
Racing against time, James went back to York with a 47-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead once again. York had a monster game, catching four passes for 106 yards and two scores. Unrattled by the Cobras' sudden spark, Ayoola took a screen pass from Rudock and turned it into a 66-yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 45-13 lead by halftime. A late touchdown by the Raiders helped wrap up their second consecutive win of the 2010 season as the clock ran.
FIGHT ERUPTS DURING BULLS/T-BREDS MATCHUPWith five seconds left until halftime, benches cleared during the contest between
Northwestern (Miami) and
Hialeah when two linemen got into a shoving match. Once the two began the scuffle, both sidelines sprinted toward them. Four players were ejected and sanctions will be given to the others who left the bench during the fight. FHSAA rules do not permit any player from doing so in this situation. Those found guilty will face a one-game suspension once FHSAA officials review the game film. Northwestern had a 26-13 lead over the T-Breds when the incident happened.
WELCOME BACK, CATO?
On Thursday, Central (Miami) quarterback Rakeem Cato will face his former team, Miami Springs, for the first time since he transferred. Cato was the starter for Miami Springs since he was a freshman and amassed 6,423 yards and 73 touchdowns with only 17 interceptions. Last season, Cato was Miami-Dade County's passing leader after throwing for 2,777 yards and 37 touchdowns. He will now lead the Rockets against his old team, along with fellow-former Golden Hawk Tommy Shuler. Both Cato and Shuler have helped the Rockets' offense score at least 41 points in each of the team's first three games this season. Although they shouldn't have a problem scoring, the emotional level of this game should be interesting for the two programs and the two players.
