Baseball Recap: Saranac Has No Trouble Against Saranac Lake

Saranac barely beat Saranac Lake the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Red Storm on Saturday. Considering the Spartans have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Zack Lucia was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Petrashune, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Saranac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Saranac has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Saranac Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Saranac will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Moriah at 4:30 p.m. As for Saranac Lake, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-1 loss against Tupper Lake on the 17th.
