The Bennett Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They strolled past KIPP Denver Collegiate with points to spare, taking the game 74-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bennett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Stiers, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Stiers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ivory, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Bennett pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bennett will square off against Jefferson Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jefferson Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. KIPP Denver Collegiate's road trip will continue as they head out to face DSST: Montview at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. DSST: Montview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully KIPP Denver Collegiate likes a good challenge.
