The Sedgwick County Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Akron Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sedgwick County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Merino 52-6. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Owen Harris produced another solid performance rushing for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 163 rushing yards. Brady Mollendor was another key rusher, rushing for 152 yards and three TDs on only nine carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sedgwick County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 418 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Another reason for the win was Sedgwick County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cameron Smith and Cash Campbell, who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Akron faced Dayspring Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams managed a 14-8 win over the Eagles. Those 14 points were actually the fewest the Rams have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Sedgwick County better keep an eye on Jace Curtis. He was instrumental in Akron's win, rushing for 62 yards and one score, while also picking up 62 receiving yards and one touchdown. Curtis didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble, made eight total tackles, and defended two passes.
Sedgwick County's record is now 4-2. As for Akron, their record now sits at 7-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sedgwick County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 298.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Akron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 182.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Sedgwick County suffered a grim 28-6 defeat to Akron when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Cougars, Anderson Filla (who rushed for 85 yards and a pair of TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
