The Grove Christian School Falcons came into Monday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 54-35 victory over Amelia Academy on Monday. The win was just what Grove Christian School needed coming off of a 46-24 defeat in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grove Christian School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sidney Fisher, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Fisher scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Hopkins, who scored seven points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Amelia Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Macy Barnard, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Isabella Arbitelle who scored 16 points along with six steals. That was a full 45.7% of Amelia Academy's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Amelia Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Grove Christian School racked up 18 assists.
The win got Grove Christian School back to even at 7-7. As for Amelia Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grove Christian School will face off against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amelia Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th.
