The Highland Prep Honey Badgers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Northland Prep Academy 57-26. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Highland Prep in their matchups with Northland Prep Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Highland Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Kendra Ibeh and Anahi Nunez. Ibeh scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Nunez scored six points along with three steals. Ibeh hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for nine straight games.
Highland Prep struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northland Prep Academy posted 18 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northland Prep Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noe Rhon, who scored 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rhon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Schulz, who scored 14 points along with six steals.
Highland Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Northland Prep Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Highland Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Glendale Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Glendale Prep Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Highland Prep surely won't give up without a fight. Northland Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
