The East St. Louis Flyers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Carbondale Terriers at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. East St. Louis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Carbondale likes a good challenge.
On Monday, East St. Louis strolled past Cardinal Ritter College Prep with points to spare, taking the game 68-50.
Taylor Powell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Robert McCline, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Carbondale pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Nashville by a score of 58-56. Carbondale has not had much luck with Nashville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
East St. Louis has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Carbondale, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
East St. Louis took their win against Carbondale in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 by a conclusive 63-41. Will East St. Louis repeat their success, or does Carbondale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
