Basketball Recap: Greensburg Comes Up Short

Greensburg suffered their closest loss since March 1, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the South Dearborn Knights by a score of 49-47. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Greensburg still got an impressive performance from Jack Mckinsey, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, Mckinsey is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Andrew Bowman, who posted four points.

South Dearborn got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Scout Gray out in front who scored 11 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Gray a new career-high. Brady Ballart was another key player, putting up nine points.

Greensburg's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-7. As for South Dearborn, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Greensburg will host Brownstown Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brownstown Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Greensburg likes a good challenge. As for South Dearborn, they will head out to face off against East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Dearborn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
