The Westside Rams will square off against the Fountain Inn Fury at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Westside comes in on six and Fountain Inn on four.
On Tuesday, Westside beat Dreher 6-2.
Jazelyn Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Madison Gray was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Fountain Inn rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Bulldogs.
Halle Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Kinsler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Payton Herring, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Westside pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain Inn, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .543. However, it's not like Fountain Inn struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westside beat Fountain Inn 10-5 when the teams last played last Monday. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fury turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
