Basketball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Tennessee

Tennessee came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Sullivan East Patriots to the tune of 85-57. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-22.

Tennessee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colin Brown, who went 9 for 17 en route to 23 points and eight assists. Brown's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Phillips, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points.

Sullivan East lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eli Hubbard, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Hubbard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Hurley, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and five assists.

Tennessee is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 31.8% in those games and 0% outside of them. As for Sullivan East, they dropped their record down to 4-20 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Tennessee will square off against Elizabethton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Tennessee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Elizabethton likes a good challenge. As for Sullivan East, they will take on David Crockett at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Sullivan East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
