Colon has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They and the Climax-Scotts Panthers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Colon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 33) but on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Homer and snuck past 51-49.
Colon found their leader in underclassman Dalton Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Nic Mock was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Climax-Scotts can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 53-41 win over Quincy.
Colon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Climax-Scotts, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.
Colon didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Climax-Scotts in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 45-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
