Baseball Recap: St. Martin Takes a Loss

If St. Martin was feeling good fresh off their 11-2 takedown of Harrison Central on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Martin fell just short of Harrison Central by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Rebels earlier this season, when they won 11-2.

Jace Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Even though they lost, St. Martin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harrison Central struck out nine times.

St. Martin's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Harrison Central, their record now sits at 4-10.

Coming up, St. Martin will venture away from home to face off against Ocean Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocean Springs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so St. Martin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harrison Central, they will welcome D'Iberville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harrison Central is facing D'Iberville at the right time seeing as D'Iberville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
