Brethren and Mesick are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Brethren Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Mesick Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Monday, Brethren was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to Frankfort. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brethren has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Mesick had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 46-11 victory over Crossroads Charter Academy at home. With Mesick ahead 32-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Brethren's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3. As for Mesick, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Everything came up roses for Brethren against Mesick in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 63-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brethren since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
