Baseball Recap: Wyomissing Beats Hamburg for Their Third Straight Win

Wyomissing had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hamburg Hawks with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Wyomissing let Birkley Ziegler and Noah Rauenzahn run wild. Ziegler got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Rauenzahn went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Rauenzahn a new career-high. Derek Macrina was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Wyomissing's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Hamburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

Looking ahead, Wyomissing will venture away from home to square off against Berks Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hamburg, they have already played their next contest, a 12-8 victory against Northern Lehigh on the 29th.
