After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brusly, Tara was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the McKinley Panthers. Considering the Trojans have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Adrian Coleman made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Tara's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Tara got a big performance out of Don Rochon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI. Those three hits gave Rochon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrick Patin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Tara always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Tara's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for McKinley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
Coming up, Tara will head out on the road to challenge Plaquemine at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McKinley, they will face off against Peabody at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
