The Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers will face off against the Tussey Mountain Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Berlin Brothersvalley's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Tussey Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Berlin Brothersvalley is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Claysburg-Kimmel just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Mountaineers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Sam Walker was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Walker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Elena Ritchey, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tussey Mountain got themselves on the board against Forbes Road on Monday, but Forbes Road never followed suit. They blew past Forbes Road 7-0. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Like Berlin Brothersvalley, Tussey Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Joslyn Raley. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Raley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Adyson Weyandt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mills, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Tussey Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 14-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Berlin Brothersvalley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Tussey Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Berlin Brothersvalley skirted past Tussey Mountain 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
