Calhoun City has gone a perfect 5-0 against Okolona recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. Okolona took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Calhoun City, who comes in off a win.
It was a proper cat-fight when Calhoun City took on Hamilton last Friday. The Wildcats really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-15 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-8.
Harland Pittman produced another solid performance rushing for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 160 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine passes. His longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calhoun City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 278 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Calhoun City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brennan Lawrence and Bryson West. Kemauri Salley was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making three total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Okolona after they claimed the first score on Thursday, but it was Northpoint Christian who ended up claiming the real prize. The Chieftains lost 42-20 to the Trojans. The contest was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Chieftains couldn't quite close it out.
Calhoun City will have to contain Kingston Blanchard as he made an impact in Okolona's last game. He rushed for 162 yards and three scores on only 11 carries.
Calhoun City pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.5 points on average this season. As for Okolona, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Everything came up roses for Calhoun City against Okolona in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 40-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
