After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dalhart, Levelland was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Pecos Eagles as they made off with a 41-21 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Levelland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Salazar, who threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. Bryson Golightly was Salazar's top target, picking up 95 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 60 yards.
Despite the loss, Pecos still got an impressive performance from Omar Salgado Jr, who rushed for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Michael Garcia helped out on the ground, rushing for 124 yards.
The win got Levelland back to even at 1-1. As for Pecos, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Levelland will square off against Idalou at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pecos, they will take on Fort Stockton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
