The Center Grove Trojans entered their tilt with the Franklin Central Flashes with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Center Grove put the hurt on Franklin Central with a sharp 40-14 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Center Grove, who have now won four matches by 24 points or more so far this season.
Center Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Cherry out in front who threw for 261 yards and five touchdowns. Cherry is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brevin Holubar, who picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Although Franklin Central took the loss, they still got scores from Brody Middleton and Jayon Harvey.
Center Grove's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Harvest Prep and 8-2 Oakland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.2% over those games). As for Franklin Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Center Grove will head out on the road to face off against Columbus North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Center Grove is ranked second). Franklin Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
