Even though the Sandusky Blue Streaks have not done well against the Perkins Pirates recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sandusky snuck past Perkins with a 56-51 win. The win was all the more spectacular given Sandusky's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Perkins is ranked 261st).
Sandusky's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devareya Rice, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Khiya Rameau, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Sandusky and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for Perkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Sandusky will play host again and welcome Vermilion, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vermilion and Sandusky are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Perkins, they will head out on the road to face off against Margaretta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Margaretta is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
