It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Culver Academies had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They strolled past the Glenn Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 47-33. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Falcons are ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Culver Academies to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jimara Combs, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Herron, who posted 11 points.
Culver Academies was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenn only racked up five assists.
Despite the loss, Glenn saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mia Hurford went 7 for 10 to rack up 21 points and seven boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hurford has scored all season.
Culver Academies has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.
Coming up, Culver Academies will square off against Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive. Glenn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
