The Trinity Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Uwharrie Charter Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 647 points over their last nine games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Trinity gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Wheatmore as Trinity made off with a 75-52 victory. Given Trinity's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Warriors are ranked 589th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Dominic Payne, who scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Payne is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. Jacob Hodges was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Uwharrie Charter took a serious blow against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 62-33.
Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Uwharrie Charter, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Trinity against the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 85-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
