Two dominant guards in Christian McAllister and Brentis Schaeffer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fayette County Tigers are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Langston Hughes Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Fayette County had to settle for a 47-44 loss against Jasper.
Meanwhile, Langston Hughes entered their tilt with South Paulding with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Langston Hughes slipped by South Paulding 60-59 two weeks ago. Given Langston Hughes' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while South Paulding is ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Langston Hughes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Catholic, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Catholic's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Schaeffer, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Fayette County's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2. As for Langston Hughes, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Fayette County couldn't quite finish off Langston Hughes when the teams last played back in January of 2021 and fell 59-57. Thankfully for Fayette County, Kobe Davis (who scored 28 points along with six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
