The Wahkiakum Mules had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 21-12 victory over Rainier. This was payback for Wahkiakum, who suffered a 34-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Wahkiakum's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zakkary Carlson led the charge by throwing for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Wahkiakum also got help from Grant Wilson who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Wahkiakum's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Rainier, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
Wahkiakum will take on Ocosta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rainier, they will head out on the road to face off against North Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Beach is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
