The Roaring Fork Rams's game on Tuesday was all tied up 27-27 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Valley. Roaring Fork was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Grand Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kiko Pena, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Pena has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Wilson, who scored 16 points.
Even though they lost, Roaring Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Grand Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Porter Ostermiller, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ostermiller has scored all season. Andrew Horner was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Roaring Fork has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 3-8. As for Grand Valley, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roaring Fork will square off against Olathe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grand Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Cedaredge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Allowing an average of 52.8 points per game, Cedaredge has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this match.
