The Independence Lions lost against the Salt Lake Academy Griffins back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Independence had to suffer through a rough 65-12 loss at the hands of Salt Lake Academy. Independence was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.
Braylon Brock was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds for Salt Lake Academy. Brock continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Pedro Perez, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Salt Lake Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will take on Anthem Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Anthem Prep is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for Salt Lake Academy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
