Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Holmes County walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chipley Tigers a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by seven runs or more this season.
Bradley Garrett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rayce Griffin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Aiden Justice was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory (which was Holmes County's eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Chipley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.
As of now, neither Holmes County nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
