The Lithia Springs Lions had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Northgate 55-52.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lithia Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Richmond, who scored 18 points along with three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Richmond has scored at least 25% of Lithia Springs' points. Aires Davis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Northgate lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Randria Wilcher, who scored 21 points along with five steals. The match was Wilcher's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was DeAsia Stinson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Lithia Springs' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Northgate, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lithia Springs will face off against Villa Rica at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northgate and McIntosh will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McIntosh will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Northgate is ranked 152nd).
