The Sands Mustangs lost against the Buena Vista Longhorns back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sands fell just short of Buena Vista by a score of 55-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sands in their matchups with Buena Vista: they've now lost seven in a row.
Caden Valdez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds for Buena Vista. The game was Valdez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackie Jurado, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Sands now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Buena Vista, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Sands will be playing at home against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buena Vista will take on Kermit in a holiday battle at 8:30 a.m. on December 15th at.
