Baseball Recap: Clover Hill Sets Scoring Season-High Against Richmond High School for the Arts

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clover Hill). Everything went their way against the Richmond High School for the Arts Bulldogs on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-0 win. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Owen Tingen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tingen was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Hine and Carter Burcume did most of the damage at the plate: Hine went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Burcume got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Burcume continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Clayton Washington, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Clover Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Clover Hill's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Richmond High School for the Arts, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clover Hill will venture away from home to challenge Thomas Dale at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Richmond High School for the Arts, they will head out to square off against Monacan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
