The Southern Lee Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Fike Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Southern Lee sitting on three straight wins and Fike on five.
Southern Lee was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lee County and snuck past 17-14. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Southern Lee was the better team in the second half.
Southern Lee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Robbie Sims led the charge by rushing for 100 yards on only 12 carries. Southern Lee also got a significant boost from Tyrice Douglas, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.
Meanwhile, Fike didn't have too much trouble with Hunt at home on Friday as they won 27-10.
Fike got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Artis out in front who picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Artis was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bud Woodard, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Southern Lee to 6-4 and Fike to 7-3.
