The LaSalle Royal Lions lost against the Marathon Dolphins back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. LaSalle fell to Marathon 49-45. LaSalle has not had much luck with Marathon recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, LaSalle saw an underclassman step up: Alexandra Gonzalez casar dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was Gonzalez casar's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Candy Cruz, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
LaSalle's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. As for Marathon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaSalle will be home for the holidays to greet Scheck Hillel Community School at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Scheck Hillel Community School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 512th, while LaSalle is ranked 208th). Marathon will be home for the holidays to greet First Baptist Academy on Friday. First Baptist Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
