The Winter Park Wildcats entered their tilt with the Freedom Patriots with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Winter Park took down Freedom 40-21 on Tuesday. Given Winter Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Freedom is ranked 509th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Park was led to victory by Maliyah Lockhart and Sam Childs. Lockhart scored 9 points along with 6 steals, while Childs scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Maggie Mcmillen, who scored 5 points.
Winter Park's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winter Park will challenge Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Freedom's road trip will continue as they head out to face Apopka at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th. Apopka is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
