Auburn Adventist has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Summit Classical Christian School Archers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Auburn Adventist posted their biggest victory since January 4th on Monday. They breezed by Northwest Yeshiva at home to the tune of 84-38. 84 seems to be a good number for Auburn Adventist as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Auburn Adventist's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zachary Ellis, who scored 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ellis has scored all season. John-Andrew Dubreuil was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Summit Classical Christian School got the win against Quilcene on Monday by a conclusive 67-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Summit Classical Christian School.
Summit Classical Christian School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trey Hodo led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six steals. Hodo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Hyde, who scored 11 points along with six assists and six steals.
Auburn Adventist pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Summit Classical Christian School, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Auburn Adventist have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Summit Classical Christian School, though, as they've been averaging only 37 rebounds per game. Given Auburn Adventist's sizeable advantage in that area, Summit Classical Christian School will need to find a way to close that gap.
Auburn Adventist won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, slipping by Summit Classical Christian School 64-63. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Summit Classical Christian School's Thomas Armbruster, who shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds.
