Even though the Wayne County Wildcats have not done well against the Perry County Vikings recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Wayne County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 victory over the Vikings. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wayne County also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Cayman Camfield was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justice Bell, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Perry County still got an impressive performance from Colton Pevahouse, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Pevahouse continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Landon Warren was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Wayne County's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Perry County, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10.
Wayne County will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Collinwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Wildcats are ranked 164th). As for Perry County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m.
