Compass Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Stanton since March of 2025 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Compass Academy has four straight victories, Stanton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Compass Academy proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Crane.

KAISON BIVINS and CALEB SALVATIERRA did most of the damage at the plate: BIVINS went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run, while SALVATIERRA went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave SALVATIERRA a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of KASON TRAVIS, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Stanton might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Denver City who claimed the real prize. The Buffaloes fell 7-3 to the Mustangs.
Gage McCown was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
McCown wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Hinojosa, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Stanton's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Compass Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Compass Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've averaged .503. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Compass Academy got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Stanton by a conclusive 18-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
