The Conestoga Christian Cougars had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 53-31 margin over Covenant Christian Academy. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-11.
Conestoga Christian was led to victory by Josh Boutaugh and Paul Hurst. Boutaugh scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds, while Hurst scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Owen Colon, who scored 4 points along with 7 steals.
Conestoga Christian's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Covenant Christian Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga Christian will face off against High Point Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Phelps at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Phelps will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
