The Cienega Bobcats came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Nogales 73-46 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-23.
Cienega's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Golembieski, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Golembieski has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Rodgers, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Cienega has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Nogales, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-9.
Cienega will take on Buena at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Buena focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Friday. As for Nogales, they will head out on the road to square off against Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert View has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 25.
