The Leland Panthers's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against DePue by a score of 51-40. That's another feather in the cap for Leland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
DePue's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pancho Moreno, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vance Hayes, who scored ten points.
Leland's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for DePue, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14.
Leland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Illinois Math & Science Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for DePue, they will square off against Hiawatha at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Hiawatha is ranked 711th, while DePue is ranked 718th).
