Baseball Recap: Chelsea's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chelsea strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Baruch College Blue Devils Bearcats by a score of 8-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Justin Leitner made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Leitner was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riggs Retz, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alexander Bastidas, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Chelsea was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Chelsea's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season. As for Baruch College, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coincidentally, Chelsea and Baruch College will both be playing Roosevelt the next time they take the field. The Lions will host Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Blue Devils Bearcats will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
