Lake City has gone a perfect 6-0 against Timberlake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Lake City has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lake City is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Coeur d'Alene, who was ranked 11th at the time (Lake City was ranked 20th). The Timberwolves fell 11-8 to the Vikings on Tuesday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Lake City got a massive performance out of KaeLee Kolden, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Karsyn DeMent was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Timberlake entered their tilt with Bonners Ferry on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Badgers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Shae Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Reese Allaway was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alannah Winland, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Timberlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Timberlake pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lake City, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lake City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Timberlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake City beat Timberlake 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
