NCSSM: Morganton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Owen 52-9.
Owen can attribute much of their success to Ellie Martin, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Roland, who scored nine points.
NCSSM: Morganton bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Owen, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Morganton will square off against Draughn at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Draughn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than NCSSM: Morganton in North Carolina (Draughn is ranked 290th, while NCSSM: Morganton is ranked 594th). As for Owen, Owen and Avery County will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
