Football Game Preview: Jessieville Lions vs. Perryville Mustangs

Jessieville has gone a perfect 3-0 against Perryville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lions will challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jessieville took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over Danville. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Little Johns: they've now won four in a row.

Jessieville can attribute much of their success to Tristan Reid, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, after only six points in their last contest, Perryville made sure to put some points up on the board against Two Rivers on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Gators 48-21. The Mustangs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jessieville better keep an eye on Johnathan Pritchard. He was instrumental in Perryville's win, rushing for 168 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. The dominant performance also gave Pritchard a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Tanner Frith was another key player, rushing for 34 yards and one TD.

Perryville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 357 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Perryville's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Jessieville, their record now sits at an identical 2-6.

Jessieville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Perryville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
