Sebastopol has gone 8-2 against Leake County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gators at 7:00 p.m.
Sebastopol is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Nanih Waiya on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bobcats had to suffer through a 49-14 loss at the hands of the Warriors. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Sebastopol's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Keyon Nicks, who rushed for 55 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and Jahoward Johnson, who rushed for 58 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leake County). They claimed a resounding 48-6 win over McAdams. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Sebastopol better keep an eye on Zechariah Washington. He was instrumental in Leake County's win, rushing for 227 yards and one score while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Washington has become a key player for the Gators: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 0-4 otherwise. Davion Townsend was another key player, rushing for 114 yards and one TD on only seven carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Leake County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 484 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 279 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Leake County's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Jacodi Boler and Donovan Leflore, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Derrick Harris got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Leake County pushed their record up to 3-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.3 points on average over those games. As for Sebastopol, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sebastopol has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 151.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Leake County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 268.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Sebastopol took their win against Leake County in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 34-8 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
