Basketball Recap: Rangely Skates Past Soroco with Ease

Rangely extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 6-1. They took their game with ease, bagging a 59-26 victory over the Soroco Rams. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rangely to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrianna Tapia, who dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 13 boards, and ten steals. Tapia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tegan Behunin, who went 6-for-14 on her way to 13 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Rangely smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 24 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

As for Soroco, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Rangely is ranked 81st).

Despite the loss, Soroco still got an impressive performance from Kolbie Pierce, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Coming up, Rangely will head out on the road to square off against Meeker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Cowboys have averaged an impressive 56.7 points per game this season. As for Soroco, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Vail Christian at 2:30 p.m. on the 24th.
