The Argonaut Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calaveras. Argonaut has not had much luck with the Red Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Argonaut's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mitchell Mcmahan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 36.4% of Argonaut's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ryan Duran was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Argonaut smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calaveras only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Calaveras' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Moser, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Moser posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Ryan Mcdaniel, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Argonaut has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Calaveras, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Argonaut will take on the Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calaveras, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
